Queretaro and its second name

Most cities in Mexico have a two part name, first an often prehispanic name and then a catholic "surname". I just discovered that Queretaro's beautifully restored and clean city's complete name is Queretaro de Santiago.

Queretaro is a Colonial city with plenty of patrician houses surrounding elegant squares. Where by the way, all have free wi-fi and you see many youngsters with their laptop at one of the traditional metal benches.

The square of the Honds:

As in all old Mexican towns there are enough baroque churches from the 16th century to admire.
Hier the side retablos from the convent of Santa Clara.

I have to admit that I was surprised by the carefully kept city.
