Torta Cubana

There are two main fast food dishes in Mexico: tacos and tortas. Taco is what now is being called wrap and torta has very little to do with its far relative the sandwich. In this case as in many other food products when a country is mentioned there is nearly no connection with Cuba. It is not only the most expensive one at all torterias, it is difficlult to eat even by holding it with both hands, but it also has everything in it, and I mean 'everything': ham, cheese, egg, chorizo, chicken, lettuce, tomato, beans, avocado, cream, chiles and beef.
I wonder when and why it was called Cuban Torta?
On the other hand the Dutch sandwich has tipically only one filling either cheese or ham and maybe some margarine...
