The fair of fairs.
Yesterday we went to Tefaf art fair in Maastricht.
Jenny Reynaerts, curator 19th and 20th century Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam lead us to her own choice of special works, among them De Kooning, Picasso. With us was illustrator Cristina Garcia and Joost (?).
Francis Picabia, super kitsch.
I didn't see a single Mexican or Latin American artist (not even pre-hispanic pieces). This Paul Klee (a) reminded me of the animals by Francisco Toledo (b).
Left, antiques potpourri, center a beautiful staring face. Right there were Alexej von Jawlensky's in the dozens!
First time I see a landscape of one of my big favorites Alex Katz.
A huge Neo Rauch, if I had the money!
One of my husbands favorite: La Chapelle.
Loads of Egon Schiele's every where at the fair. Also one of my old time favorites. How can it be so many works of his for sale, from an artist that died at age 28!
