When I took this photograph of Reinier Baarse at the Rijksmuseum I had the self portrait of Rembrandt in mind. Here both of them.
As I observed this detail of Rembrandt's painting I though of the rich and thick mixtures of the then revolutionary material (like pyroxylin) of Siqueiros. You can click on Siqueiros photo to see some of the texture details.
Hans was yesterday host at the museum. We had again a fully informed guide who told us with passion about her favorite paintings.
